Medical sources reported that hospitals in the Gaza Strip recorded 14 new deaths in the past 24 hours due to famine and malnutrition, including two children weakened by hunger.

With these deaths, the total number of fatalities from famine and malnutrition rises to 147, including 88 children.

Gaza is enduring the worst humanitarian crisis in its history, where severe famine is compounded by a genocidal war waged by Israel since October 7, 2023.

Since March 2, 2025, Israel has closed all crossings into the Gaza Strip, blocking most food and medical aid, causing widespread famine throughout the territory.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) warned that malnutrition among children under five doubled between March and June due to the ongoing blockade.

The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed alarming levels of malnutrition in Gaza, stating that the deliberate siege and delays in aid delivery have caused many preventable deaths. Nearly one in five children under five in Gaza City suffers from severe malnutrition.

Tom Fletcher, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, said that one in three people in Gaza has gone without food for days, calling for urgent aid delivery and the establishment of a permanent ceasefire.

UNICEF added that all Gaza residents are hungry, but children are “the most affected.” It noted, “Instead of going to school, boys and girls risk their lives hoping to get some food.”

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli military offensive on Gaza has killed 59,821 Palestinians—mostly women and children—and injured 144,851 others. The casualty toll remains incomplete, as many victims remain trapped under rubble or inaccessible to rescue teams.
